Create a cohort of service users
Overview
The cohort creator allows you to create groups of service users for subsequent analysis. Cohorts are groups of service users with similar characteristics for example live in the same geographic area, have similar care needs or demographics.
Analysis by service provider or service type is undertaken in the provider analysis section.
Process - Cohort Creation
To create a cohort, from the Home screen choose Data Insights, New Cohort. Alternatively there is a New Cohort option in the main left side menu, that will appear if you select service users.
Choose a name for the cohort [we suggest using a name that is meaningful and will allow you to easily identify its characteristics]
Define the cohort using the filters available in the Cohort Wizard
- Care types can be selected either by high level service types [for example domiciliary care, residential care, day activities], or by specific service type [for example DPS Day activities, DPD Direct Payments]
- Change in care need can be selected either by a change in domiciliary care hours received or cost over a number of weeks
- Service users can be added individually
- There are a number of other filter options including the number of care hours received, the value of care received, age, gender etc etc
- There is no need to save the cohort you have created - it will automatically be saved as you create it
Process - Edit, Copy, Share, Delete a Cohort
Cohorts can be edited by choosing the cohort from the main menu the choosing the following options:
- Edit - allows you to rename a cohort and/or edit the characteristics
- Copy - this creates a copy of the chosen cohort which you can then rename and tweak of a similar type
- Share - allows you to share with other CareAnalytics users
- Delete - delete the cohort
Renaming a cohort
To rename a cohort click on the pencil icon to the left of the cohort name. When renaming a cohort you will need to click save by clicking on the disc icon.
